The Meeting

'Twas the night before X-ma....OOPS wrong story....

Two days before Halloween 1994 I went to a halloween party where there was a Tarot Reader giving readings. Being one year into a divorce I asked her "how does my love life look?", She turned up the Devil card and said, "I think you should concentrate on other areas of your life for now." Two days later, on the night of Halloween, I was working the door at a bar for some friends of mine who have a local rock band. Just before midnight Arnell came in with a couple of friends. They didn't want to pay the cover because the place was dead since Halloween fell on a Monday that year. I let them in for half price and promised Arnell I'd dance with her myself when I got off the door at midnight. Not that I was doing her a favor mind you, she was gorgeous, and dressed as a vampire in a short leather skirt and a leather halter top. We hit it off pretty well, exchanged phone numbers and started seeing each other quite frequently. About 2-3 weeks after we met and finding out how much she was into Tarot and that she was in the process of creating her own deck and writing her own book, I told her about the reading from the party. She immediately went and got her hand-made Tarot deck and showed me the Devil card that had her picture on it, and her book. She read to me the meaning of the Devil card which says, "Interpretation: Passion at it's most primal level. Erotica and sensual pleasure. A tendency towards mischieviousness. Obsession, ......." We have been madly in love for the past 2 1/2 years and the prognosis from our friends is that we're hopeless.

My first bike

Feb 7 1995, my birthday, a few months after Arnell and I first met, I was still renting a room from some friends. I came home just after midnight making it the beginning of my birthday, and found a '73 Sportster in the garage. My first reaction was to tell my roommates, "I didn't know you guys liked me that much." Turns out my roommate got a great deal on it and bought it just sell it for a profit. This bike looked just like one I had wanted in high school and couldn't afford. When I called Arnell later that night, as I did every night I didn't spend at her place, she told me, "So buy it". Well still being involved in a divorce and with a bankruptcy on my credit history I figured "no way". Arnell kept pushing me to try for a loan, offered to cosign, and at one point even offered to loan me the money herself. With this incentive I kept pushing a loan company and even offered the title to my 4-legged BMW, and three weeks later the Sporty was mine. If it wasn't for Arnell I'd have never got the Harley I'd dreamed of, and you guys wouldn't have to listen my dribble. Please don't hold it against her.
