Basically it started with an e-mail msg from Matthew asking me what color panties I was wearing. That's about as romantic as it gets :-)

My first contact with Matthew was through email in '92, even though we both worked for the same company, at the same location. I was a "newbie biker babe" on a Harley wannabe scoot (Honda Shadow) and had ventured out into rec.motorcycles (before I had a clue about *that* place. I posted something in response to "women on bikes" thread, and Matthew posted another follow-up to mine, something to the effect of how good I looked on my Honda Shadow. I also received personnal email from Matthew, oftentimes asking me what color panties I was wearing.

I don't remember the first time we met face to face, but it could have been at a company "Friday party" (every Friday at 5:00 pm the company had a keg of beer and snacks in the breakroom so employees could socialize). I had also observed Matthew with his sweet-looking '85 Sportster and later his '74 FLH in the company parking lot. Something about the way he looked in his engineer boots, with long curly hair and, well, he just had that somewhat scruffy biker look I found irresistable.

Something too about Matthew that attracted me was his very original sense of humor, his friendly way with everyone and his generosity in helping friends and strangers alike who needed mechanical assistance (he replaced the worn o-ring chain on my Honda - even before we were officially "an item" he was wrenching on my bike. I remember talking with Matthew in my office about a bike trip I was going on. Matthew said "Road trips build character." That comment always stuck with me. I realized that I had a crush on Matthew; the more I got to know him, the more I wanted to know him.

For a couple of years we kept in touch sort of from a distance. Then, at some point we went on a date (a motorcycle ride, of course!) and we've been together ever since.
